Narrative

Valentine is a lone mercenary and gun for hire in the city of Arcadia Verge. Living in a city like this is expensive. Especially if you have a pet cat, like Valentine, as pets need food.

As Valentine ventures out into the city in search for mercenary jobs that could pay for cat food, they stumble upon all sorts of odd figures and characters wanting Valentine’s help.

However, one of these jobs eventually leads Valentine down a dark path they can not come back from.

Level Design

In this project, I focused on creating recognizable landmarks alongside a road system that flows naturally through the environment. A key goal was to ensure players could easily locate quest givers and progress without relying on a map. To achieve this, I designed the city layout using nodes and main paths, forming large intersections, plazas, and squares. Roads vary in size and lane count to signal when players are entering major routes or central hubs that connect multiple areas.

One such hub connects to the player’s apartment, located within a megabuilding overlooking the city. This building is positioned at a five-way intersection, establishing it as a key node that players naturally return to throughout the level.
