Naomi

A pvP map designed in and for Diabotical Rogue

Summary

Project Breakdown

  • Solo project - 4 weeks, halftime

  • Player vs. Player arena shooter map

  • Created in Diabotical Rogue’s in-game map editor

Naomi is a first person PvP map designed and playtested in Diabotical Rogue. This project brought me back to when I first started designing PvP maps in Halo 3 and Reach using Forge. It was nostalgic, but also a great design challenge.

Design Highlights

  • 9 unique sections: 4 spawns, 4 skirmish zones, 1 center room

  • Designed for asymmetry, flow, and fast-paced PvP

  • 3 main height levels to support different character mobility

  • Strategic spaces built around sniper, SMG, and grenade launcher weapons

  • 23 custom callouts to support team comms

  • Two-way teleporters for high-speed map traversal

Each week, I playtested and iterated based on feedback and metrics. I focused on architectural readability over set dressing, using angled geometry to improve movement and create natural chokepoints.
